AFM in Canada
Canadian cities began joining the American Federation of Musicians (AFM) in the late 1890s, with a major wave of expansion between 1900 and the 1910s. The union officially adopted "of the United States and Canada" in its name in 1900 to reflect this international expansion.

Key Historical Notes
- Initial Expansion: The union first became international in 1897 when the Montreal Musicians Protective Union and Toronto Orchestral Association joined.
- Canadian Representation: An official position on the International Executive Board for Canada was created in 1905.
- Structure: Today, the AFM in Canada is known as the Canadian Federation of Musicians (CFM/FCM).
